Startup Market Stories: Pukpip
IFE sits down with Zara Godfrey, Managing Director of Pukpip, one of the businesses which took part in the Startup Market at IFE 2023. The Startup Market was launched as an area of the show dedicated to brand new businesses looking to make their mark on the world of food & drink, and we ask Zara how it went.
Hi Zara, what do Pukpip do?
Pukpip has launched the UK’s 1st range of Chocolate Dipped Frozen Bananas and is on a mission to help you eat more fruit in fun, delicious and convenient ways, while upcycling wonky fruit. Available in Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and NEW White Chocolate.
Pukpip real fruit snacks with a chocolate twist, provide permissible indulgence and are only 152-162 Kcal a stick. Our Milk has won a Great Taste Award and our Dark are Vegan Certified. Find us in the freezer and indulge in real fruit.
What sets Pukpip apart from the competition?
Pukpip is disrupting the ice cream category with real bananas - nature's alternative to ice cream and dipping them in chocolate for a delicious real fruit snack! For us it's a really exciting time as there are no other brands out there doing what we are.
Pukpip joined the Startup Market at IFE this year, what was your experience at the show?
Pukpip had a great show. We sampled over 4,000 bananas and received tremendous feedback for industry leaders as well as consumers. It was wonderful to see everyone walking around with Pukpip's frozen bananas and asking where they could get one from.
The Montgomery Group [organiser of IFE] team were fab to work with and we would highly recommend the show to new brands.
What’s coming up for Pukpip in the rest of 2023?
Pukpip is having a really exciting year: we are gaining lots of new listings, we are sampling, we have just invested in our first OOH media live in July. Our new White Chocolate launched in June and singles will be available from July. It's go-go go! We’d love you to follow our journey on Instagram @hellopukpip.
Where can our audience find your product?
Pukpip is available in various health food stores across the country, as well as Whole Foods Market, Planet Organic and Vegan Kind.
