Pukpip set to disrupt UK ice cream category with indulgent frozen fruit snacks

Pukpip, a new frozen snacking brand is on a mission to help consumers eat more fruit in fun, delicious and convenient ways. New for 2023, Pukpip is set to transform the ice cream category by tapping into the rise of permissible but indulgent frozen snacking and desserts with a range of Real Frozen Banana’s Dipped in Chocolate.

Launching in the UK frozen food market, Pukpip is kicking off with a range of real frozen bananas dipped in a choice of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and coming soon - white chocolate. The combination of smooth chocolate and creamy ripe frozen banana is a match made in heaven.

Pukpip products are breaking the mould for frozen treats, with their Real Frozen Bananas Dipped in Chocolate, being the first product of their type to come to UK retail, after sister company Diana’s has proven to be very successful in the USA. Adapted to the UK market, the signature Frozen Bananas Dipped in Chocolate, offer an indulgent fruit snack or dessert, nature’s alternative to ice cream.

Aimed squarely at the millennial female, with or without children, looking to find balance with healthier snacks and desserts for themselves and their families. The brand and product offer has been developed using UK market research and consumer insights in a bid to offer permissible snacking choices for consumers.

Zara Gugen, Managing Director at Pukpip has spearheaded the production and launch of the new range of Pukpip products. “We know consumers are increasingly health conscious and actively looking for ways to improve their diet. Market research has shown that 9 in 10 consumers want to eat more fruit and veg. But with the demands of modern life, it’s not easy to always eat well, get your 5-a-day and enjoy great taste.

“With tighter HFSS regulation we’re also giving retailers more opportunities to stock healthier, HFSS compliant options for consumers which still prioritise taste. We want to give consumers the best of both worlds; an easy way to enjoy more fruit and indulge in a permissible chocolate treat, enabling them to feel good about their choices,” explains Zara.

Pukpip bananas are responsibly sourced from the coastal region of Ecuador and freshly frozen, locking in that wholesome goodness. Using bananas rejected from export due to small imperfections or markings on their skin, because they’re the wrong shape or size, or simply because there are too many on a bunch; Pukpip upcycle these bananas that would otherwise go to waste, helping them find their true calling as tasty, chocolate-covered treats.

Once the bananas are peeled, dipped and safely in the freezer, the leftover skins are then upcycled back into the ecosystem. The chocolate is also sustainably sourced and perfectly matched to the UK palette with the Milk Chocolate having already picked up a 2022 Great Taste Award, while the Dark Chocolate is Vegan Certified.

Pukpip Real Frozen Bananas are only 152-161 calories each, currently available to retail in Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate, in multipacks of 3 at RRP of £3.99

Pukpip Real Frozen Bananas are now stocked with CLF and Consort Frozen Foods for independent retailers.  To become a stockist or to find out more email hello@pukpip.com or visit www.pukpip.com
