Acclaimed Aussie chef John Torode MBE to showcase the best of culinary Australia at IFE 2025

The richest selections from nature’s larder ‘Down Under’ across plant, land and sea will be showcased at the Australian Pavilion (stand numbers 2810 and 2830) during this year’s International Food and Drink Event at Excel London in March. Aussie produce advocate, Chef John Torode, will take centre stage for a number of exclusive interactive cooking demonstrations throughout the event.

Under the Austrade (Australian Trade and Investment Commission) banner - the Australian Government's trade and investment development agency– 29 companies will exhibit close to 100 products, showcasing a diverse collection of premium food, drink and edible wellness offerings that reflect Australia’s rich landscape, along with its six diverse climates that encourage unrivalled levels of biodiversity to thrive.

A number of exciting new products will be unveiled at this year’s show, including Zest Element, a new range of unique dried fruit ingredients that transform imperfect yet nutrient-rich fruits into premium health-focused components, packed with intense flavour. While established no/low alcohol brand Naked Life Spirits will use IFE as an opportunity to showcase four new non-alcoholic cocktails which will be launching into Ocado in March 2025.

Unique and innovative sustainable products will be exhibited throughout the stand while wellness enhancing brands that promote better physical and mental health through herbs, botanicals and natural ingredients will demonstrate the healing power of nature. From Honey for Life’s highly bioactive honeys containing powerful antibacterial properties, to Mast Chew sustainable chewing gums, Daily Shake’s innovative supplements and clear waters from BODIE*Z  enhanced with protein and collagen.

Australia’s world-leading and highly consistent red meat produce and outstanding oceanic bounty will be showcased through a number of live cooking demonstrations with acclaimed chef John Torode, MBE.

While wine industry buyers will be given the chance to sample Australia’s world-class wines from exhibitors such as Handpicked Wines, Latitude 32, Briar Ridge, Tyrrell’s and Grove Estate showcasing iconic varietals celebrated the world over, and new modern cool-climate wines from Tasmania.

Live Cooking Demonstrations with Chef John Torode

John Torode, a lifelong advocate of the quality and consistency of Australian ingredients, will host live cooking demonstrations on the Australia Pavilion (Stand 2810 + 2830) at the following times:

Tuesday 18 March - 11.45am and 1.30pm

Wednesday 19 March - 11.45am and 1.30pm

John will provide an exclusive insight into how to prepare high quality Australian lamb from three of Australia’s most revered suppliers including Thomas Foods International, Fletcher International Exports and JBS Global.

Chef John Torode said: “What makes Australian grain- and grass-fed lamb so exciting to cook with, is its high-quality, mild, and consistently tender flavour profile. The high marbling in Australian grain-fed lamb results in a rich, juicy taste that lends itself perfectly to a variety of cuisines and cooking styles.

NEW Products and Launches

A number of new products will be launched at this year’s event, which are outlined below:

Zest Element – NEW sustainable ingredients to revolutionise culinary creativity with wonky fruit

Zest Element will be launching its new 150g pouches of 100% natural lime, lemon, and orange fruit powders at IFE25, crafted from 'wonky' fruit to reduce waste.

The Australian food innovation company committed to reducing food waste through sustainable food processing was founded by Sam Musson, a passionate sustainability advocate. It transforms imperfect yet nutrient-rich fruits into premium dried fruit powders, citrus salts, and dehydrated fruit slices.

Naked Life - Four NEW products from Australia’s no. 1 non-alcoholic cocktail brand

Fable Food – NEW Drake & Morgan Vegan Burger

Already working in conjunction with major UK restaurants such as Wagamama and Rosa’s Thai as well as UK meal delivery service Gousto and health food retailer Holland & Barrett,  Fable Food has announced a new partnership with UK bar and restaurant group Drake & Morgan. The group will supply a vegan burger across its venues that utilises the Fable Food Company Pulled Shiitake Mushroom product.

Fable is made from Shiitake mushrooms whose dense, fleshy fibres and umami flavours are naturally meat-like.  

Geraldton’s Fishermen’s Cooperative – New Retail-Ready Brolos Lobster from World-Leader in Sustainability

MSC-certified lobster fishery Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative (GFC) has launched a new range of retail-ready Brolos Australian Lobster products. The innovative range marries old-world craftsmanship and industry-leading production techniques to deliver a perfect piece of sustainable luxury for the home chef.

Formed in 1950, Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative Ltd (GFC) has grown to be the world largest exporter of Australian rock lobster and sets the benchmark for sustainable, quality seafood exporters worldwide.

Brands and products with a story to tell

Austral Fisheries and the Glacier 51 Toothfish

A world leader in sustainable fishing practices. In 2016 Austral Fisheries became the first seafood business in the world to be certified as carbon neutral.

Its Skull Island Tiger Prawns and Karumba Banana Prawns have been well received in international markets, but it is the Glacier 51 Toothfish that is gaining more traction as high-end chefs and consumers switch on to its unique flavour profile.

The company has battled sub-Antarctic conditions and taken on the illegal vessels/pirates, while helping officials to document largely unexplored marine ecosystems, all to bring the Glacier 51 toothfish to the world’s top restaurants.

New Wine Varietals from Fourth Wave Wine

Fourth Wave Wine is an innovative wine brand launching new varietals into the UK. It will be taking part in a wine tasting event at Paradise Green during IFE to showcase a new alcohol-free Plus + Minus range.  Please see invitation attached.

The brand has successfully launched other contemporary wine brands, including Little Giant and Elephant in the Room and is becoming more well known for its innovative low and no alcohol wines. Including, New at Waitrose: Tread Softly Rosé by Fourth Wave Wines.

Tread Softly is a range of moderate alcohol, modern wines that are lighter on the environment and on your palate.  Certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, Tread Softly has partnered with Carbon Neutral to reduce its carbon footprint through planting an Australian native tree for every 6 bottles sold.  

Dhuwa Coffee - Championing Female Led Businesses

A First Nations owned and operated coffee brand that champions female-led businesses  DHUWA Coffee has social responsibility woven throughout is story. Seeking out Indigenous-owned plantations, it aims to empower communities and honour the heritage of the land.

One of the brand’s mottos – “We champion female-led businesses in the coffee industry, because strong women brew strong change.”

Honey for Life

Collected from rare and unique ancient forests in Western Australia (WA) are some of the most powerful antibacterial honeys in the world. Facts and Figures on trade between the UK and Australia

Almost two years into the historic trade agreement between the UK and to coincide with this year’s IFE/HRC event, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) has released figures that demonstrate the trade relations between the two countries.

Goods given preferential access in the UK due to the UK-Australia Free Trade Agreement rose by 11% in the year ending May 2024.

  • The estimated Australian exports¹ of goods with preferential access² increased by 11%. They rose from A$0.93 billion in the year ending May 2023 to A$1.04 billion in the year ending May 2024, the year when the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) came into force³.
  • More analysis on trade between the UK and Australia will be released ahead of IFE on the 13th of March, which we will share in due course.
