REINE DE DIJON SAS
Reine de Dijon was founded in 1840 and has been making mustards for 185 years.
Our mustard factory is located in the heart of the Burgundy countryside a few kilometers west of the city of Dijon.
In the early days, a small nearby river called the Ouche was used to power heavy stone mills needed to grind mustard seeds into a paste.
Today we’re proud to continue the Dijon mustard making tradition but using the latest technology.
Reine de Dijon brand mustards are truly authentic and are crafted using only French mustard seeds and natural ingredients without preservatives.
After WW2 French farmers stopped planting mustard seed mainly because it wasn’t a subsidized crop. Since this time most of the world’s mustard seed is grown in Canada.
Today Reine de Dijon promote growing mustard seeds again in the Burgundy Franche Comté region, as was the tradition for centuries in the past, and we commit each year, alongside other mustard makers, to purchase 100% of the mustard seed grown by French farmers.
Reine de Dijon are also responsible about the environment and sustainable development for future generations. We are certified ISO 140001 and ISO 50 000 and even produce our own heat and green electricity thanks to our bio gas plant.
