EMBRACING THE MEDITERRANEAN TRADITION - CRAFTING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Everything began in the early 1950s when the Sarantis family started producing cheese and yogurt. Today, HELLENIC DAIRIES Group holds a strong leadership position in the market of Greece and Southeastern Europe, offering a broad portfolio of products based on Mediterranean tradition.

HD has evolved into a strong export-oriented company, with commercial activities in more than 50 countries worldwide through its 11 subsidiaries, and 8 state-of-the-art production facilities. Notably, 63% of total sales come from international markets.

8 Production Plants

At the core of the Group's production capabilities are 5 factories in Greece, producing a variety of products such as Feta P.D.O. and salad cheese, authentic Greek yogurt, grill cheese, iced mountain tea, plant-based cheeses, beverages and desserts, soft drinks, and sparkling natural mineral water. Additionally, the Group operates 2 state-of-the-art factories in the Balkan Peninsula—one in Romania and one in Bulgaria—dedicated to producing fresh dairy products and cheeses. All facilities adhere to the highest standards of hygiene and quality and are certified with internationally recognized quality assurance standards (IFS, BRC, Bio, etc.).

Recently, 2 more production units were added to the Group: “UMC” a strong player in the Bulgarian market, and “Kouroushis”, a historic halloumi producer of Cyprus.

Halloumi Cheese P.D.O.

Strong commitment for HD is to be one of the most reliable suppliers of Halloumi Cheese P.D.O worldwide. The company offers its own traditional Halloumi P.D.O. assortment to selected partners, fulfilling the role of a one-stop supplier for high quality, authentic Greek and Cypriot products.

In October 2024, the Group is honored to inaugurate the new state-of-the-art Halloumi P.D.O. cheese plant in Cyprus.

The new facility incorporates cutting-edge technologies and automation to reach an annual Halloumi production capacity of 18,000 tons per year, thus making it the largest in Cyprus. At the same time, sustainable practices and environmental protection infrastructures are in place to improve productivity while reducing the environmental footprint.

This significant greenfield investment of approximately €70 million, underscores the Group's commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability in dairy production.

Caring for the future

Corporate Social Responsibility is the driving force behind all the company’s actions. By installing integrated biogas plants in two factories, reducing waste, energy consumption and carbon dioxide footprint, investing in eco-friendly packaging solutions, HELLENIC DAIRIES Group contributes to the overall effort for a sustainable living for the future generations. Moreover, the group is especially committed to addressing the issue of food waste, by raising awareness among employees and their families and enhancing consumer knowledge.

HELLENIC DAIRIES Group has continued enjoying healthy growth and achieving top financial performance. Its turnover in 2024 reached €651M, following the upward trend from €599M in 2023.

Embracing the values of quality, authenticity, and innovation, HELLENIC DAIRIES Group is dedicated to producing high-quality products that meet the growing global demand and embody the authentic Mediterranean tradition.
