Dr William Okell, who founded Okell's Brewery in Castle Hill, Douglas, Isle of Man, in 1850 was a man of singular drive and ambition. Not only did he go on to build the much-renowned Falcon Steam Brewery in 1874, he also convinced the Isle of Man's Parliament to pass an Act ensuring the purity of all beer brewed on the Isle of Man.
That Act survives to this day.
Thanks to Dr. Okell, the Manx Pure Beer Act ensures that all our beer is made to exacting standards, using only the natural brewing ingredients of water, yeast, hops and malt. The special skill and passion to produce outstanding beer from just these four ingredients has been passed down through generations of Manx Master Brewers.
Today Okell's is as pure as ever, in nature and in taste.
