D. Nomikos owns three state of the art processing plants in Greece, where a full range
of tomato products in packages suitable for industrial, food service and retail channels are produced.
HISTORY & MILESTONES
- 1915
Dimitrios Nomikos sets up the first organized tomato processing factory in south eastern Europe, in Monolithos, on the island of Santorini.
- 1945
George, son of Dimitrios, sets up the second family factory on the island of Santorini, in Vlyhada.
- 1957
George expands with a third factory on the island of Kos.
- 1970
The business gets incorporated and sets up one more factory in mainland Greece, in Aliartos .
- 1982
The company expands its operations further north by building a new factory in the Domokos area.
- 2003
The company acquires stake in Merko Gida company, Turkey.
- 2007
The company acquires the Heinz Greece primary processing plant, “COPAIS”.
- 2014
The Vlyhada factory in Santorini is converted into Tomato Industrial Museum.
- 2017
The company expands its production capacity further by building a new factory in the area of Farsala.
- 2022
The company expands its operations and enters into the production and sale of Apple Puree products.

D. Nomikos is the biggest tomato processing company in Greece, and one of the oldest in the world. It is still family owned and is managed by the third generation of the Nomikos family.

- We implement an Integrated Crop Management System based on the GLOBALGAP protocol for fresh fruits and vegetables which include:
- Extensive training of farmers on Good Agricultural Practices
- Field mapping
- Field monitoring, including crop history
- Recycling fertilizer containers (A1:H7)
- Applying advanced Smart farming technologies, in order to achieve maximum tomato quality and quantity with the least input, rational use of water resources, appropriate nutrients uptake, using climate–soil-plant growth parameters

TRACEABILITY
Our products are fully traceable
An automated traceability system is in place. Our system has the ability to trace back to the specific field where the tomatoes were harvested and forward to the final customer and end product (SKU). Our traceability system guarantees final end user protection.
FACTORIES
- ALIARTOS PLANT
The Aliartos plant is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and systems, specializing in secondary processing.
Production lines: Passata, Tomato Paste, Spiced and Plain Pizza Sauce.
Available packaging: aseptic, hot fill line for pouches, 1 glass jar line packing 70 to 720 g and 3 Tetra Pack lines packing 250 and 500 g.
- DOMOKOS PLANT
The Domokos plant has a processing capacity of 3.000 tons of fresh fruit per 24hrs and is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and systems.
Production lines: Diced Tomatoes, Polpa, Passata, Tomato Paste, Pizza Sauce
Available packaging: 4 aseptic lines packing from 20 to 1000 lt, 2 hot fill lines packing 1/2 kg, 1kg, 2.5, 3, 5 kg tins, diced tomatoes in 400g, 800g, 2500g metal can
- FARSALA PLANT
The newly built Farsala plant has a processing capacity of 3.200 tons of fresh fruit per 24hrs
Production lines: Diced tomatoes, Passata, Tomato paste, Pizza Sauce and Apple Puree
Available packaging: 4 aseptic lines packing from 220 to 1000lt

Our standard tomato paste range includes:
- 28/30 CB and HB
- 30/32 CB and HB
- 36/38 CB
- PIZZA SAUCE
(or crushed tomatoes) from fresh clean ripe tomatoes, with a harsh homogeneous texture, red vibrant color , intense tomato flavor and aroma. Concentration from 8 to 22 brix , is prepared with or without spices.
Our standard pizza sauce range includes:
- 10/12 Plain and Spiced
- 12/14 Plain and Spiced
- 14/16 Plain and Spiced
- PASSATA
from fresh clean ripe tomatoes, with smooth and homogeneous texture, red vibrant color and intense tomato flavor and aroma.

from fresh clean ripe tomatoes with irregular tomato pieces in slightly concentrated tomato juice.
- DICED TOMATOES
from fresh clean ripe tomatoes that are specific for dicing. with defined tomato pieces in slightly concentrated tomato juice. with or without CaCl2 calcium chloride as firming agent.

- APPLE PUREE
from fresh, clean and ripe apples, with homogeneous texture, uniform light-yellow color, and typical apple flavor and aroma. Available in concentration ranges from 11 to 38 brix.
